Update: My little Speedgrade/Premiere Project Converter still works with 2017 then 'open' that saved file with your grading done in his app again, and it knows to 'upgrade' that number so PrPro 2017 is happy with the file again. either manually modifying the PrPro project header file, where changing ONE character allows Sg to 'see' the file, or using Patrick Zadrobilek's nifty little application that auto-changes that one character for you.
